Strategic Transformation Planning & Management
the process of creating and implementing a
detailed, integrated plan to realize the organization's 3-5 year vision, goals and objectives.

Symptoms
  • The organization's functions, SBU's and/or departments operate as silos, occasionally at odds or cross-purpose with one another.
  • Organizational Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) become disconnected from the top-level KPI's the further down in the organization you go.
  • Key projects are out of sync with other key projects upon which they depend
  • Poor focus
    • Too many projects... not enough resources.
    • We add to the plate, but never take anything off the plate.
  • Every year, we fall short of one or more objective.
How we help
  • We work with Leadership Teams, from the enterprise level to the site / departmental level, to create and implement focused and aligned strategic Transformation Maps.
    • This is often done in conjunction with Leadership Team Alignment.
    • These Transformation Maps are segmented by theme and by time (generally quarters or years).
    • Accountability for planning and implementation of each theme is assigned to one or more Leadership Team members;  Responsibility for all of the themes is shared by the entire Leadership team.
  • Leadership Team members have individual measures and rewards tied to specific projects and themes within the plan, as well as shared measures (and rewards) for success of the entire plan.
  • Throughout implementation, we help the team stay focused on the plan
    • Assistance in detailed planning and program management (generally by theme)
    • Quarterly progress reviews & updates (including risk mitigation plans)
    • Adjust the plan as the situation dictates... being mindful of resource, time, quality and integration constraints
  • We work with the Leadership team on a Stakeholder Analysis and Change Leadership plan to engage the organization effectively.
  • Generally, a Transformation Map includes themes and significant projects to address Culture, Structure, People and Process... the more daring the strategy, the greater the efforts in these areas.
